We will be addressing recent hot accounting topics and projects. Included in our discussion will be the new and proposed standards that will affect or are likely to affect reporting throughout the remainder of 2009. An update will also be provided on the most recent FASB projects and include an overview of the following topics:
Wes Yeomans
Wes Yeomans is a senior manager with Deloitte and has over 8 years of experience in public accounting. His areas of expertise include derivatives, fair value, banking, consumer business and Sarbanes-Oxley control compliance. Wes has served a wide variety of national and local audit clients in the financial services and consumer business industries. He has a bachelor of science in accounting from Utah State University and a masters in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is also a member of the AICPA and UACPA.
Joel Van Cott
Joel Van Cott is an audit partner in the Salt Lake City office of Deloitte and has over 12 years of public accounting experience. Joel's areas of expertise include fair value measurements, valuation of illiquid securities, accounting for asset-backed securities, allowance for loan and lease losses, business combinations, and revenue recognition. Joel has served complex national financial institutions, as well as numerous local financial institutions, during the prevailing credit crisis.
