George Tribble

Presentation Summary -The American Dream, Can We Get It Back? I Believe We Can.

What went wrong with the strongest and most secure investment in the world during the past half century? There were no rivals for its position. For many, it helped pay for a college education or provided a retirement nest egg.  It allowed America to expand its middle class and became the savings account for many families.  In less than two years this asset lost an average of more than 40 percent of its value and wealth which had peaked in late 2005 and early 2006. This is the largest investment most Americans would make during their life. It was a major source of funding for our consumer spending during the past two decades. Consumer spending represented more than 60 percent of our gross national product (GNP). Now many families are walking away from this noble asset. In many cases the families just cannot afford it any longer. By now we all know what this investment is: the family home.  As a source of pride and security, the home has vanished for too many families. The American dream has been placed on hold.
